Treatment is about so much more than just talking. Sure, you will have one-on-one sessions and participate in larger process groups, but recovery at Serenity View also includes serenity walks, psychoeducation on a wide range of topics, fishing in our pond, learning new life skills like boundary-setting, optional spirituality sessions, and workouts with a personal trainer.
Therapy Methods
Patients will experience a variety of clinical methods ranging from individual and group therapy to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. Classes may include life skills, wellness, communication and boundaries, recovery support and psychoeducational sessions.
Case Management
We’re in this journey with you from before you arrive at treatment to well after you head home. Our discharge planners/case managers are committed to helping each patient create a roadmap for long-term recovery. This includes making the most of treatment while you’re with us, and then having a solid plan for life post-discharge. For some, aftercare may include taking advantage of our nearby outpatient program, The Meadows Outpatient Center-Dallas, as a way to step down to another level of care. Or you may need help finding other outpatient or sober living options as well as getting connected with a sober community in your area.
The Brain Center
Meadows Behavioral Healthcare is always looking for ways to incorporate the latest evidence-based treatment methods into our programs. Our Brain Center — offering neurofeedback, Hemoencephalography biofeedback, Cranio-Electro Stimulation, Heart-Rate Variability, and chi machines — increases regulation and resiliency in patients, enabling them to be more successful in long-term recovery. Traditional treatments are focused on the pre-frontal cortex of the brain, but if you’re seeking treatment for addiction, your prefrontal cortex is going to be out of balance. Our Brain Center’s limbic system therapy focuses on regulating the central nervous system, resulting in less anxiety, fewer withdrawal symptoms, better sleep, and a more effective treatment experience.
More InfoHolistic Services
In addition to more traditional treatment methods, patients also have access to our art room, helping them process what they’re learning through artistic expression. Then there is weekly equine therapy and spirituality groups (including Hand In Hand, focused on the common goals of inner joy and peace of mind). Yoga, optional massage, and other services are also available to create a customized, well-rounded treatment program that appeals to your specific interests.
Our Emotional Support Dog
One of the most beloved members of the Serenity View team is undoubtedly Snowflake, our emotional support dog. She lives on campus, splitting her time between the administration offices, meeting rooms, and patient wings. A former patient entrusted her to us in 2018, and now we can’t imagine not having her around. Snowflake helps soothe patients and provides welcome emotional support and tail wags. Treat jars can be found around the campus, and we admit she’s more than a little spoiled! [NOTE: Unfortunately, there isn’t room for any other four-legged friends. We can’t accommodate personal emotional support animals or patients’ pets during treatment.]
